TENNESEE: A Tennessee state senator and Sunday school teacher said he was opposed to sex outside marriage and supported many measures against adult entertainment, but his private life told a different story: he was having an affair with his 22-year-old intern. When an extortion plot exposed married Republican Sen. Paul Stanles's illicit relationship, he said he would be "clearing up" mis-impressions later. He's now clearing out his office. As news of the affair broke last month, the 47-year-old Stanley dodged reporters and issued a statement calling himself a victim. Court documents showed he had admitted the affair to investigators and acknowledged taking explicit photos of the intern in his Nashville apartment. After a week of mounting pressure, he reluctantly resigned. Even as he quit, he tried to blame the intern, suggesting in a radio interview that the intern might face charges in the extortion case.

NEVADA: Las Vegas Metro targets a Vegas topless pool party put on by the Sapphire club and arrested 8 women on prostitution at the Rio Hotel and Casino. Over the last few weeks, Las Vegas Metro Police, has been serving notice to night clubs and pool side parties in the hotel casino's, both on and off the Las Vegas Strip: Stop breaking the rule's or it will shut the party down. Planet Hollywood quickly came up with $750,000 to pay a fine that was a result of the Prive'; nightclubs rule breaking, which included topless women and dirty dancing. The infractions resulted in Prive'; being denied a temporary liquor license. The State of Nevada's Gaming Commission has been warning nightclubs and topless pool parties to tone it down since 2006.

The FL Sunshine Entertainment Association will host a meeting at the ED Gentlemen's Club Owner's Expo in Las Vegas on August 24, 2009 at 3pm in the Mandalay Bay Conference Center. Citizens for Sunshine and FL ACLU representatives will be presenting a strategy for state chapters to battle negative challenges in their states. Our lobbyists will also be in attendance to discuss the 2009 legislative wrap up, 2010 adult club fee legislation, upcoming campaign races and how a federal human trafficking grant will affect Florida adult businesses. There will be short presentations by industry providers to offer you discounts on goods and services, as well as a presentation from our national coalition partners in Washington, D.C. who plan to provide us with an opposition update.
